The area of "Massif du Dévoluy" offers excellent climbing on superb quality French limestone. The 'Les Etroits' adjacent to the 'La Tourtette' guest house has 44 climbs ranging from 4C to 7B difficulty with a maximum height of 30m, climbing guides for the 'Les ètroits' are available free from the St Etienne en Dévoluy tourist information office.

In addition to traditional climbing, give the 'Via Ferrata' a try, 2 minutes walk from La Tourtette, a secured traversal through the Souloise Gorges, the second harder section (Vertigo), is equipped with metal guides in places for accesibilty for all levels of climber and offers the best view of this fascinating gorge.
